By the end of World War 2, Western Europe was backed by democracy and they received economic/military support from the United States. Most of Eastern Europe had become ruled under communist control. In 1989, the Berlin Wall had been torn down; it symbolized the beginning of the fall of communism. The year of 1990, the two Germanies (East and West Germany) united as one country again. Revolts and uncivilized acts against the communist rule broke out occurred throughout the European countries.
